The Cue Collector - Heiron & Smith Round Badge
This is a Heiron & Smith cue.  It has an ebony butt hand-spliced onto an ash shaft.  The small circular badge is ivory.

Heiron & Smith is an Australian billiards firm that was established in Sydney, New South Wales, in 1883.  The founders were Walter Woodbine Heiron, known to his friends as "Wally", and J.B. Smith.  Wally Heiron came to Australia from Bristol.

Heiron & Smith was Sydney's answer to Melbourne's Alcock & Company.  Heiron & Smith survived as an independent business for 105 years before it merged with Alcock & Co in 1988.  The business continues to trade under the Heiron & Smith name.

The cue shown in the photos is likely to have been a standard cue supplied to customers who bought tables.  The cue probably dates from the period 1900-1910.
