The break was made during November 1924 in a match against Willie Smith at Burroughes Hall in London.

This break exceeded Tom Newman's own previous world record of 1274, made in December 1922.

Tom Newman's highest break was 1827, made against Walter Lindrum in March 1931.

This cue is likely to have been manufactured by Peradon & Co in the period from 1924-1930.
